The vGRID Hybrid Edge 100 is designed for medium to large office connections to provide on-site high performance compute and storage capacity with automatic
integration and backup with vGRID Public Cloud.
This appliance will run VMWare ESX allowing for Virtual Machines (VMs) to be deployed and then replicated back to vGRID Public infrastructure for full off-site recovery.
With the edge of the network being in vGRID Public Cloud, the addition of Disaster Recovery Reservation for the VM’s running on the Edge 100
would give them an RTO time of approx. 5 minutes. Networking would be inherently taken care of through the architecture of the vGRID Hybrid Connect service.
By running ESX, the host can appear within the vGRID VMware management consoles, tagged to the specific customer and therefore isolated from all vGRID Public
infrastructure clusters. Being part of the central VMware vCloud management environment in vGRID, the Edge 100 device will appear as an available host for the
deployment of VM’s from within the vGRID Customer Portal – bringing to life the single pane of glass for both on-site and in-cloud server management via vGRID.
The Edge 100 will have an Active Directory VM deployed that also acts as a Veeam proxy for the backup and replication functions needed for off-site backup and
Disaster Recovery viability. Depending on CPU load and disk space requirements, it is recommended that five VM's would be a suitable maximum for the resources available in the Edge 100.
